I've been working really hard on repairing my hair from heat damage. You know the drill... too hot curling irons and blow dryers causing split ends, breakage and frizz. I came across these heatless hair curlers, and they have totally changed my life. That's not an exaggeration! Check them out in action!
They save me loads of time. I'd estimate about 5 minutes to put them in, and 3 minutes to take them out, run a brush through, and put some of my favorite anti-frizz on. I can even get away with not wearing them the following night and still have relaxed waves the following day! Granted, I do have naturally curly hair so it holds very well for me. But even with straight hair, I bet you'd get beachy waves! 10/10 recommend!!!

![]() As an adult, essential oils have improved my quality of life in countless ways. I can only imagine what they would have done for me as a kid!! I had a lot of nerves growing up. I liked being at home. I liked routine. I had friends, but I also had a "peopling limit". I had a nervous tummy. I wasn't a good sleeper. ...the list goes on. Sound familiar? Essential oils are natural tools that, in my opinion, every home needs regardless of the age of who lives there... but ESPECIALLY helpful solutions for our little ones. Let's peek at a few oil blends from the brand that I trust for all of my essential oils, which is Young Living. They have a line called "Kidscents" that are pre-diluted for children ages 2+, which is the ultimate easy button. And to be honest, I use them all the time myself!! ![]() First up, Geneyus. Let’s call this one, "attention in a bottle". This oil is a so helpful for anyone that has trouble focusing on one task at a time! This is a great one to apply on the back of the neck (brain stem) before school, or diffuse while doing homework. Helpful for test taking, before presentations, piano lessons... any time where focus is needed! ![]() Next up, Kidpower. This one smells like a DREAM, like an orange creamsicle. I like to wear it as a perfume, myself! But this one is amazing for courage, big feelings, nerves, and bravery. Childhood can be tough- new situations, making friends, sleeping alone in the dark, learning new skills, feeling big emotions... we can all relate, right? Whenever bravery is needed, this oil is it! ![]() Sometimes, life throws us an Owie. Playground mishaps, boo-boos... knees and elbows love this oil. Leave it out where the kids can easily grab it when needed, and always keep it in the purse! Just drop it right on top of any ouchie and top with a bandage if needed. You can even add a roller top for even easier application on the go. I haven’t met a boo-boo that Owie can’t make feel better. ![]() Tummygize is probably the oil I personally reach for the most. For myself! Oh how I would have LOVED this as a child. Definitely leave this one out where the kids can grab it whenever they need it. The name says it all. A swipe on the belly will help pretty much ANY issue feel better! Yes, even that one. That one too. And that one also. Honestly, all I know is that this gentle blend WORKS. ![]() Who couldn't use better sleep? Sleepyize is a gentle blend of sleepy oils like Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Valerian, Rue, and others that are a perfect blend to wind down with before bed. I have heard from so many parents that they adore this blend in their little ones’ diffusers at night, and applied to the bottom of their feet and down the spine. Such a gentle, comforting, and relaxing part of bedtime routine. ![]() Snifflease is just as the name sounds. This blend has loads of lung and sinus-loving oils like Eucalyptus Blue, Pine, Dorado Azul, Eucalyptus Radiata, and more. Apply to the chest, back of the neck, and back in the fall/winter when the lungs and sinuses need some extra care. Maybe even dab some on the tip of the nose and around the ears as the seasons change and pollen comes out to play. These oils are amazing for every household with little ones. Having tools at your fingertips to incorporate into your daily routine to support everything from tummies to emotions is so empowering. These oils come in a couple of collections if you want them all, or you can grab one or two that you feel would best suit your family's needs. ![]() If you happen to be reading this before March 23, Young Living has put together a Little Loves Bundle that has ALL of the Kidscents oils, 2 roller tops, and Kidscents Unwind (a magnesium supplement to help the kiddos unwind at the end of the day) for 36% off! Plus, I have a 10% off coupon code that can be stacked on top of this if you have never ordered from Young Living before. When you're ready to check out, send me a message and I'll pass along the code for you to use. Like I said before, using oils as an adult has improved my quality of life dramatically, and teaching our kids to reach for these non-toxic tools is so empowering for them! Especially after the last few years we have gone through, the comfort of having these at our fingertips to use (both when something acute arises and as part of the daily routine) is invaluable. ![]() Happy Spring! ...is it happy for you? For YEARS I struggled in the spring. The pollen, the flowers, the trees budding, the grass being mowed, spring cleaning stirring up dust- somehow it would all end up in my nose. Luckily, I experimented and found some things that worked to help me breathe easily and feel comfortable, and actually ENJOY the spring! Let's take a peek at my go-to's! First up, local raw honey. Local to wherever you're spending spring. Where I am in Ohio, we have a few local bee keepers that sell their honey at Whole Foods, farmers markets, and online- really easy to find!
Next up, my Season Change Trio. I take a 10ml roller, and fill it with 10 drops each Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint, and fill the rest with carrier oil. Then I roll it around the outside of the ear (on the head, like where noise cancelling headphones would rest), and down the sides of the neck. I choose to use Young Living for my essential oils- they're the highest quality and most effective I've ever used. I'll also diffuse 3-4 drops of each essential oil for extra support (especially overnight), or add one drop of each EO to that raw honey I mentioned above. Normally, the roller does the trick on its own! Another helper has been saline nasal spray, sprayed into the nose and then blown out. I've used a neti pot with success also to help flush the sinuses. Gut health has been another huge helper. We eat a paleo diet (specifically, Autoimmune Protocol in the process of reintroductions), and are working on increasing the diversity of the gut microbiome with raw sauerkraut, prebiotic foods, and probiotics. So there you have it my friends- those are my spring solutions for all the yellow dust that is flying around right now! I don't know if it'll work for you, but it's what works for me and are my go-to's for spring! |
